I'm 15 and a half weeks pregnant :)
We really need to get a high powered heater for our basement, it's so cold down here! The basement is about 500 square feet and our baseboard heater just doesn't cut it! We bought one of those portable oil radiator heaters a few weeks ago but it didn't put out enough heat so we took it back. I don't think we're going to be able to find something that can heat the whole basement so we might have to just buy some individual heaters for each of us and just stick them under our desks to keep our feet warm. Maybe we can look into those electric fireplaces, but I'm sure one of those would make our electric bill even higher than it is now. Oh well, we'll figure something out :)
I had a prenatal appointment yesterday and I heard the baby's heartbeat for the first time! I had to hold myself together or else I'd cry my eyes out with joy. Baby's heart was beating 160 beats per minute and my doctor said that was good. It made the pregnancy even more real. I wish hubby had been there to hear that. Next time :) Also, I managed to lose a pound, which I was pretty happy about. My doctor said she'd like it if I didn't gain much more than 10 pounds during my pregnancy. So far I've only gained a pound.
My brother in-law and his wife came by last weekend and brought us some things for baby. They gave us a beautiful bassinet that they used for the first few weeks with their little girl, who just turned 3 years old. Also lots of small toys and a great diaper bag. I can't thank them enough for their generosity. Thank you!
I go in for my second IPS blood test next week and then an ultrasound in about 3 weeks. If baby is positioned well enough then we should be able to find out if we're having a boy or a girl.
Things at home are good. I start my new delivery job next week. My doctor was supportive of that and is happy that I'll be out getting some exercise. I'll need to get some snow boots or shoes this weekend as it's really starting to snow here.
More later!
I didn't have the Internet when I was pregnant back in 1991. Back then I wrote letters to my unborn child, who is now 19! Sadly, many of those letters have been lost and I don't think I'll ever get them back. So, I decided that instead of spending all of my online time playing video games, I'd start a pregnancy blog. No more lost letters and I can share my journey with friends and family. So here I am!

My Son has Returned and Possible Employment
My teenage son has moved back in with us! I'm so happy about that! Now to get him back on track with school and chores. He probably won't be able to go to his old high school since we've moved since he left. I'll be calling his school counselor next week to find out his options.
I have an interview today for a local flyer distribution company as a flyer carrier/deliverer. I won't be making big bucks, but I can bring in up to $400/mo. which would be nice. Better than what I'm making now! It'd help with utilities at least :) I'm not sure how the process works, but I know that I'd be hand delivering local grocery store flyers and such once a week to a certain area of the city. I'll post more when I know more.
Baby and I are doing fine. Over the past few weeks I wake up at 3 or 4 in the morning just starving. I usually have a bowl of cereal and watch The Weather Network. I'm not as hungry during the day as I was during the first few weeks. I seemed to be hungry every 2 hours. I've also noticed that I fill up quickly. The gas and bloating have lessened and no headaches since my last one which was a migraine last weekend. I'm also not as tired during the day, but I find that I tire out easily even just going up the stairs. Hopefully if I get this delivery job I'll be able to increase my endurance since I'll be doing a lot of walking! Plus my doctor wants me to try to walk daily, which I haven't been doing.

14 Weeks
I'm 14 weeks pregnant today!
Announcements have been sent to family and friends. I'm so excited!
Not much has been happening lately. I got my seasonal flu shot at my last prenatal appointment and then my H1N1 shot this past Thursday.
My weight gain has been minimal and I'm happy about that. I'm a big girl as it is and I was so afraid that I'd pack on the (unneeded) weight like I did with my first child. Of course back then, my son's father worked in the food industry and was bringing home extras every single night. That didn't help! I won't post my weight here, ever, but I'll post updates on weight gained and such ;)
I haven't had any morning sickness at all, or food aversions/cravings. Well, strawberries. I LOVE strawberries. I might make a strawberry pie today. I have been a bit weepy and emotional lately but nothing extreme. I break out in tears maybe once every week or two. I did have a bad migraine headache the past 2 days but it's finally gone. The only time I really feel pregnant is when I have terrible bloating and gas and when I attempt to sleep on my stomach. It's like there's a small melon under the mattress. Not too comfortable ;)
My 17 year old has been visiting us for the past few weeks. It is so nice having him with us. He's still thinking about things and mentioned he might be moving back home with us. We talked over dinner the other night about what we expect from him and all that and he seemed agreeable. I just want him to finish high school and think about college or a trade school. He's shown an interest in carpentry or framing and there's a good school here in London that offers training on all that stuff.
Hubby's iPhone app should be done soon! I'll post a link to it whenever it's up on the Apple site.
That's it for now! Hugs and love to all :)

First IPS tests
Yesterday I had an ultrasound and first blood drawn for my IPS . I go in again at 16 weeks for the second blood test.
The ultrasound technician said I was 12 weeks and 4 days pregnant. I got to see the baby and he/she is so much bigger than the last ultrasound I had on the 5th. Hubby had a business lunch and couldn't make it.
I'm going to be sending out announcements this week hopefully. I've been so tired and my attention span seems to be very small which is highly frustrating. It's so hard to focus on one thing for very long.
More soon!

Timeline
Thought I'd post everything that's happened since we became pregnant!
September 20
I felt my period was late, so I took my first at-home pregnancy test but it was negative.
September 20-October 14
Still no period.
October 15
Took my second pregnancy test and it was positive!
October 16
Visited a local walk-in clinic for a prenancy test and confirmed the pregnancy.
November 3
Had my first prenatal visit at the clinic.
November 5
First ultrasound! I couldn't stop my giggling when I saw the baby, I was so filled with joy! Hubby was pretty excited too :)
November 9
Switched from over-the-counter prenatal vitamins to prescription Pregvit vitamins. Doctor called to tell me I was 10 weeks and 1 day pregnant.
November 11
Had blood taken at lab.
November 12
Quick prenatal visit to doctor to discuss ultrasound. Everything looked good.
November 18
Second prenatal visit. As of the 18th I was 11 weeks and 3 days pregnant. Blood work came back fine. Gained 2 pounds since last prenatal visit on 13th.
That's it! So now I've got to work on announcements for family and friends. I was waiting until I was 12 weeks and had an ultrasound picture to send out.
I'm not too good at posting regularly, but I'll try to start keeping up with it!

An Introduction
I thought this would be a good way for me to keep friends and family updated on me, my family, and my pregnancy, since I'm so bad at keeping in touch :(
My name is Cami and I'm 38 years old. I've been married to my husband Andrew for almost 4 years (February 11) and I live in London, Ontario, Canada. My husband is an engineer and currently writes software and does coding and all that technical stuff. He also is writing an app for the iPhone with some of his co-workers.
I'm a homemaker and though we could use a second income, we're managing. It's been hard finding a job, being new to Canada and not having any recent work experience. Maybe I'll try looking again in a few years. I'm getting older and would love to have a few more children, so working might have to be put on hold until we're done having children. We'll see :)
Hubby and I decided to go ahead and start a family just a few months ago. I was worried that my age would make conception difficult, but it didn't take long! Within days of stopping all birth control, we were pregnant! We didn't even have to try much (my husband would have preferred more attempts!) but either way, I'm happy that I'm still quite fertile :) I hope that lasts into the next few years so we can try to have another child, maybe two more. Maybe more!
I have a 17 year old son who currently lives away from home with some friends. He comes by every few weeks to visit, have dinner, or do laundry. I miss him terribly but I'm doing fine with not having him here. He is very excited about having a baby brother or sister soon!
So there is a bit about me, my family, and why I started this blog. I'll try to keep this updated daily with what's going on with me and everyone involved with this pregnancy. :)
