39 weeks!
The past few weeks we've gone out looking at recliners to serve as a chair for me to hold/rock Nathan and to breastfeed him. Those gliders are just so expensive and to be honest, I'm not big on their look. Plus my OB had suggested a recliner to help me sleep as well since laying down is too uncomfortable.
Anyway, we'd found a recliner about a week ago that was pretty cheap, around $350, but I just couldn't bring myself to want to really buy it. Yesterday, at the suggestion of my mother-in-law, we decided to go to our local La-z-Boy furniture store. So I sat in nearly all the chairs they had within our price range and none worked. I finally told my husband that I was getting uncomfortable and couldn't keep testing chairs anymore. Then as we were getting ready to leave, I saw this nice leather chair that looked real cushy so I sat in it and wow, it was wonderful! It was leather and way out of our price range (think it was $1500 or so) but I just had to sit in it for a few minutes because it was sooo comfortable.
Turns out we could get it in fabric AND in the same color to match the crib! So we bought it (for half the price of the leather one) and I am happy to say that I slept in it last night and slept for SIX HOURS! Six hours! YAY! I am so excited! My husband was too and he feels better knowing that I can sleep in it and that the money was well spent ;)
Today we're off to buy a Dyson vacuum. Rave reviews all around for this thing, I hope it's worth it!
Everything else is good. Nathan is happy as a clam and refuses to come out ;)
I didn't have the Internet when I was pregnant back in 1991. Back then I wrote letters to my unborn child, who is now 19! Sadly, many of those letters have been lost and I don't think I'll ever get them back. So, I decided that instead of spending all of my online time playing video games, I'd start a pregnancy blog. No more lost letters and I can share my journey with friends and family. So here I am!

Another false alarm
After drinking a few glasses of water the contractions stopped. We were all getting pretty excited around here for a while there!

Having contractions
I'm having very painful contractions and back pain. My husband has the contraction timer going on his iphone and so far they're running anywhere between 4 to 6 minutes apart and lasting a little longer than a minute.
I'll post more when we know more!

Not feeling 100%
38 weeks, 5 days! 9 days to go!
I've resorted to having to sleep in an upright position. I wake up with a sore and stiff back but at least I'm able to sleep for a few hours. I still get up at least once a night either from general uncomfortableness or arm pain but I'm managing to fall back asleep within a few hours.
I mentioned that Nathan had dropped a few days ago but he moved back up the other day. But he dropped again yesterday and this time it is SO uncomfortable! I may have to resort to living upstairs until I have him since going up and down the stairs is nearly impossible. My abdomen feels so heavy! My feet and ankles are still swelling up and they get so stiff that it's very hard to walk. And my frequent trips to the bathroom are back! Every 15 minutes!
I've been so grumpy the past few days. I just cry and cry out of pure frustration of my inability to move (due to Nathan having dropped and my edema) or do anything. My hands just won't work. I can type out my posts and surf the internet for a few minutes a day but I can't hold a book to read or a pen to do crosswords. I'm trying to be positive but it doesn't always work.
More soon :)

Offer Accepted!
My husband has accepted the position at RIM! He'll be an Applications Software Developer. I'm not sure what he'll be doing but some sort of technical stuff ;)
Everything else here is good. I'll write more later when I have a bit more time.

Saw a different OB
I'm a little upset that my OB was out today and I had to see someone I'd never seen before. He never did an internal exam so I have no idea if I'm dilated any more than last time. He was sympathetic toward me and my woes but I didn't even bother asking about induction since he probably couldn't make that call anyway without my regular OB's approval. Oh well, hopefully my normal OB will be in the office next week for my appointment.
My weight went up about 4 pounds, BP was around 115/85 and my fundal height was 45cm.
Just spoke to my husband and RIM has offered him more pay than they did originally! We're going to talk more about it tonight over dinner with my in-laws who just arrived in town but I have a feeling we'll be moving to Waterloo!
Here's a little more information about RIM:

Hot day!
Next time we decide to have kids I am definitely not going to have a summer baby! It's so hot! It's beautiful outside though which I'm loving, just not fond of the heat.
I'm feeling better than I was this morning when I wrote my previous post. I haven't had time to take a nap yet and not sure I will be able to today. I usually try to schedule my appointments for early morning so I'll have the rest of the day to nap and take it easy but today's appointment is later than usual and we only have one car so I have to pick up my husband from work not too long after I get home from my OB.
I did take an hour today to do some clothes shopping and that helped my mood, haha! I spent a bit more than I had intended but I think I made out quite nicely. The clothes I bought were on sale if that counts for anything ;) I've been pretty limited on summer clothes so I bought some capris and thin cotton shirts.
Anyway, off to the doctor. I'll post any news when I get home.

OB Appointment today
38 weeks, 3 days!
My ability to sleep at night is finally gone. I get so many cramps and pains in my belly that sleeping is almost more trouble than it's worth. I tend to sleep much better in the middle of the afternoon than I do at night so I definitely need to get some naps in today.
I take my cat in for her annual exam and shots this morning, then meet with my OB at 2pm. Last week when I saw her she said that if I hadn't had Nathan by today that she'd do an internal exam and see how things were going. I'm really tempted to see if there's a way to schedule an induction as I am just not doing well anymore, physically and mentally. I am just exhausted. I can't hold a fork or a pen, can't sleep, can't get comfortable, my feet look like they're about to explode from being so swollen... So negative, I know, but this pregnancy is really starting to wear me down! I'm afraid that if I don't have Nathan soon that I'll fall into a major depression and I don't want that.
Things at home are good otherwise. My husband is trying to negotiate a higher salary with RIM and he called NDS yesterday to see what was up with them and if they were planning to give him an employment offer. So job stuff is still a bit up in the air. My teenage son is still here and he has expressed an interest in moving to Waterloo with us if we go there for my husband's job at RIM. I'm pretty happy about that :)
I'll post more later about my OB visit.

Update on teen, baby, job...
38 weeks, 1 day!
First off, sorry I haven't posted in a few days. We're doing fine here. Nathan is still resting comfortably in my belly :) My teen son and I were walking through Walmart the other day and I suddenly had cramping and contractions and severe pelvic pain. Turns out Nathan dropped again in the middle of the store! We managed to get our shopping done though and headed home just fine.
I've been having A LOT of Braxton Hicks contractions lately. They were actually quite painful this morning and running around 5 minutes apart. I hopped in the shower though and they went away so I knew then that they weren't the real thing.
I am rarely sleeping for more than 2 hours at a time and most nights I end up going out driving once or twice. Driving relaxes me more than reading a book or watching infomercials. My left arm has been giving me a lot of trouble lately so that pain along with general third-trimester insomnia really limits my sleep.
My teenage son has been staying with us for about a week. He asked me to take him to see our doctor again about getting help with depression and possibly getting on medication. About a year ago or so he diagnosed himself with dysthymia and our doctor actually agreed with him at his last appointment. I thought that was interesting :) She prescribed Celexa for him and he's been on that for 3 days now. He goes back to see her next week. Things here with him have been going well and I hope the medicine helps too once it kicks in. He'll be making some calls this week to some local agencies that offer therapy. I'm a firm believer in therapy while taking medication, not just taking the meds.
Good news about employment for my husband! He was offered a position at RIM! We're pretty excited but still waiting on hearing back from NDS which we hope to do tomorrow or Wednesday. So... a move just might be in our near future! I'll keep everyone posted.
Hello to friends and family. I've received your emails and will reply soon! Also, thank you to my sister for her card and onesies for Nathan :) I'll write soon.

Growth Ultrasound
37 weeks, 4 days!
I had a growth ultrasound this morning then met with my OB right after. She told me that Nathan is currently 9lbs. 3 oz! I can't believe that he's already that big and I still have 2 weeks left to go! I'm hoping that I'll still be able to deliver vaginally but it's nice to know ahead of time that a c-section might be necessary but my OB thinks I'll be able to deliver normally since this isn't my first child.
Hands are still bothering me and it's very hard for me to walk or stand much.
Hubby's second interview at RIM went really well and he's currently at another job interview for a company called NDS.
More later :)

Pretty tired
37 weeks, 2 days!
I was up almost all night last night so I'm pretty tired today. My teenage son is going through some tough times and last night I went to pick him up from Sarnia which is about an hour away. We spent a lot of time talking after that and I think I ended up getting maybe 3 hours of sleep total. I'm happy that my son is here with us though and I'm hoping we can get some things figured out for him so he can get better.
My husband is at a job interview at RIM right now. We're pretty excited :) I hope it's going well!
Nathan is doing fine. I feel very heavy and it's tough to go up and down our stairs or do much walking or standing. I've been getting a lot of pelvic pain and contractions lately. I go in for a growth ultrasound on Thursday, I can't wait to see how big he's getting. I feel like he's 8+ pounds already! My arms haven't hurt in a day or so but my hands are so numb and tingly all the time, even with my splints on. I haven't been drinking nearly enough water so I'll be trying to do that today.
More soon and hope everyone is well!

New computer!
37 weeks today!
Well my PC died yesterday. Big ol' blue screen o' death then nuthin'. Couldn't even turn the thing on after that. So today we went out and bought me a Mac mini! We are now officially a Mac family! My husband has been using a Mac Pro for about a year now. Macs are just so darn easy to use. Plug them in and there you go. I'm excited! No more PCs, yay!!
Nathan has been pretty calm lately. He moves but his movements aren't jabby anymore. I've been having contractions off and on for a few days. Last night my left arm starting hurting again and I was up for a few hours. I did manage to go back to sleep around 5am and slept till 9:30.
That's it for now!

It's Friday, yay :)
Hubby's interview went good! They're supposed to be calling him today to set up a second interview for next week! We're excited :)
I'm doing pretty good. I was up from 2am to 4am then from 6am to 7am. I'll definitely take a nap this afternoon. Little Nathan has been sleeping most of the morning but I'm sure he'll wake up as soon as I have something for lunch.
My arms starting hurting a little this morning. I haven't been drinking hardly any water so I'll be filling up today! I do NOT want that pain to come back!
I managed to do some cleaning yesterday, just a little. Eventhough I haven't been getting much sleep lately, my energy seems to be increasing, as well as my appetite!
Wanting to say hi to my family and friends and hope everyone is doing well. I'll email when I can :)

Finally some sleep!
I managed to fall asleep at 7:45 this morning and sleep until noon, yay! I feel pretty darn good! I still might need another nap or two this afternoon though.
My husband just left for his job interview, I'll post how that went when I hear more.

So Tired
36 weeks, 4 days!
I'm a little grumpy this morning since I only got around two hours of sleep last night. It takes me five minutes to try to get comfy in bed yet it's very uncomfortable to sleep in my usual position for more than 20 minutes. Plus I'm still making trips to the bathroom every half an hour. It's also really difficult for me to get in and out of bed. I tried to prop myself up in bed this morning with lots of pillows but then I started getting sharp pains and pressure on my cervix so I ended up just getting up and heading out to get coffee and breakfast for me and hubby. He's got an important interview today and I feel bad that I kept interrupting his sleep with my complaining and crying. I kept telling Nathan that he isn't allowed to arrive until after hubby's interview since my husband has to drive for nearly two hours each way to RIM, plus he'll be in the interview for two hours.
I've got an urge to clean (nesting!) but I'm in too much pain to do much. It's very uncomfortable for me to bend over to empty the dishwasher or the dryer.
Gonna go sip my coffee and watch television for a bit. I'll try to get a nap or two in today.

An Active Baby!
Everything is going good here. I'm still getting the cramps and some light bleeding but no real contractions yet. Little Nathan is so active, my belly keeps moving!
My husband has a job interview tomorrow at RIM, yay! I'll post tomorrow how that goes.
Updates as necessary and hope everyone is doing good!

Cramping!
I just got back from my pre-admission appointment and my OB. According to my doctor I could go into labor any time now. She said the first ultrasound I had (the one that is supposed to date the pregnancy) has an error margin of a week so I could very well be 37 weeks instead of 36.
Since my last post just a few hours ago I've been experiencing pretty intense cramping, much like menstrual cramps. Even just walking down the hall to my doctor's office I had to slow down and stop a few times because of the pain. I haven't had any more bloody discharge but the cramps are pretty consistent. I've also noticed visually that my belly has dropped a few inches. Just last night I was laying in bed with my shirt pulled up to expose my belly and I pointed out to my husband how high I still seemed to be carrying. Not today! Nathan is really low now.
I'll keep my blog updated daily so if I haven't posted in a day or so then something has probably happened. I'll try to get my husband to update if I'm unable.
I think Nathan will be here very soon :)

Labor soon?
Well, looks like labor might start fairly soon! By soon, I don't mean today necessarily!
I just noticed some blood, otherwise known as "bloody show". I'm excited!

Pre-Admission and OB today
I've an appointment today at 1:15 at the hospital for pre-admission. This will save a lot of time when the day comes that we actually check-in for Nathan's delivery. I've got my birthplan all filled out and insurance info ready. After that appointment then I head upstairs for my weekly OB appointment. I've got a growth ultrasound set for the 20th. I love going for ultrasounds, I love seeing little Nathan :)
My arms have been doing surprisingly well the past few days. My husband has been nagging me to drink more water so I've been trying to drink a few liters a day and I think it really really helps with the pain. My hands hurt and are so weak and numb but I'm so happy there's no pain in my arms from the carpal tunnel. I still wear my wrist splints 24/7 which sucks but they seem to help my hands.
Nathan is pretty cramped so his foot is almost always lodged up near my right side ribs. I sleep on my right side but his foot just presses into my ribs even more so now I'm waking up at night all the time from the rib pain. His head is really low and I get a lot of pelvic pain. Luckily my UTI is gone! I'm still having to visit the bathroom every half an hour too from all the water I've been drinking. I don't mind that so much; I'd rather have to use the bathroom every half an hour than to have that excruciating pain in my arms. I've also been having contractions through the night and back pain. I really think (hope!) Nathan will arrive soon :)
My husband has had a few job interviews over the past week. The main company we're trying to get into is RIM. They came by his work last week and interviewed some people and he met with them. We hope to hear back from them soon. He also had an interview with itaas but they don't have a local office yet and we're not keen on moving to the states at this time. They have an office in India too but I don't think we're up to moving that far ;) We'll happily relocate for RIM though.
More soon!

9 Months and Happy Mother's Day!
Update from previous post: Nathan is not here yet, everything is fine!
36 weeks, 1 day! I've officially hit the 9th month mark!
Sorry it's been so long, I haven't been feeling too well this past week. I've been so tired and my hands are just getting more numb by the day. I've been drinking a lot of water lately and the pain in my arms seems to have lessened but I still can't feel anything with my fingers and my hands still get very stiff and sore. Even just typing this small paragraph has made my hands hurt :(
My OB gave me the "ok" for the Macrobid so I've been on that. I'll be finished with them tomorrow night.
As for our little scare early this morning... Around midnight last night I started having what felt like regular contractions. They woke me up and I stayed awake the rest of the night. I woke my husband up around 3am and he got out his iPod Touch and fired up the contraction timer app. We headed to the hospital around 4:45am. My contractions were around 4 to 7 minutes apart and lasting about a minute. They hooked me up to all the monitors and sure enough, contractions were being recorded. The doctor checked me internally and I was 1cm dilated but everything else was normal. She also told me she had a feeling the contractions would just peter out since they weren't getting any stronger and yup, they eventually faded away. We got home around 6:30am and finally got some sleep.
Gotta go let my hands rest. More later :)
Busy day!
35 weeks, 1 day!
Sorry about my grumpy post yesterday! I've been so tired lately and letting things get to me. I am in pain from the carpal tunnel but I really shouldn't let that get me so down!
I got a call from my family physician's nurse this morning that my urine sample from last week tested positive for a UTI. She called in a prescription for Macrobid since I'm allergic to penicillin and the only other drug that works for my infection is amoxicillin which is part of the penicillin family. I picked up the prescription on my way home from dropping my husband off at work and as soon as I got home there was a message on my answering machine from the pharmacist telling me that I shouldn't take the Macrobid since I'm so close to being full term and I've been having a lot of contractions lately and it can hurt the baby somehow.
So... the pharmacist called my doctor who in turned called me and then she called the pharmacist back, who then called me again. Goodness! Then my doctor called me to tell me she was calling my OB to discuss my contractions and the UTI. Now I just have to wait for a phone call from someone! I am grateful to my pharmacist for taking the time to do extra research on the medicine and to call me as fast as she did.
I've gotta go pick up my son and take him to a few places. I love seeing my son :)
I'll post more about the medicine thing as soon as I hear more!

Too much pain to post much :(
My carpal tunnel is getting really bad and typing just isn't working anymore :( I'll try to post when I can but they'll probably be pretty short.
Just a quick update since it's been a while since I posted.
My Braxton Hicks are coming quite often and are quite painful. I wake up constantly at night from either the contractions, the carpal tunnel, having to pee or just being too hot. My husband installed our window air-conditioner today so hopefully that will help with my body temperature. I've noticed that I'm starting to get depressed from lack of sleep because of arm pain. I am eager for Nathan to be born so I can get relief from the pain!
I'll be trying to get some emails out this week to some people, just not sure when. Hands hurt, more later :(
